Join us for an incredible whale watching experience in Hermanus – the whale watching capital of South Africa. The expert guide will provide a briefing before you set off in search of the magnificent whales. With a friendly and knowledgeable crew, we ensure a personalized and memorable experience. Watch in anticipation as you enter the world of these gentle giants, with the team providing insights into their behavior. Capture these unforgettable moments with the onboard videographer, and browse local crafts and souvenirs upon return. Enjoy the comfort of the purpose-built catamaran and choose from various daily departures. All ages are welcome for this extraordinary adventure.

What could you encounter? Whale Species: Southern Right (Jun-Dec), Humpback (June-September) & Bryde’s whales (all year).

Highlights include:

• Guided Tour of the whales in the ocean by Hermanus on the purpose-built catamaran.
• Whale Specialist Guide provides informative commentary.

Duration: approx 1.5 – 3hours. The tour time is not capped, duration all depends on the travelling time to the whales and the abundance of marine life on the day. Average 2 hours.
Inclusions: Guided Tour (English), by Whale Specialist Guide. Hot & Cold Beverages
Exclusions: Transport (you will have to drive to Hermanus yourself), Meals, and Items of personal nature. Souvenir USB movie of trip (pay directly after your trip if you would like to purchase). 

All Ages Welcome. Children under 13 years of age must wear life jackets for the full duration of the tour. Children must be under adult supervision.

Your reservation will be automatically cancelled if you do not arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time. Please call/WhatsApp us if you are running late, arrival time is strictly 30 minutes before your reserved departure time. 

What to Bring

• Weather appropriate clothing- windbreaker jacket, it is always a little colder at sea than it is on land.
• Sensible shoes, flat shoes are best (No high heel shoes).
• Sun block; sunglasses & cap or hat for hot days & gloves and ‘beanie’ for the cold days.
• Camera
• If you are prone to motion sickness it is best to purchase and take sea sick or motion sickness prevention tablets. Get these in advance as per instructions on the packet. There is no medication available from the operator. We strongly advise that those who feel they might suffer from seasickness should not consume too much alcohol the evening prior and avoid extremely fatty breakfasts.

Weather – Sea Permitting

The tour may be canceled with short notice if the weather/sea is unsuitable for the tour experience. Please call or whatsapp us to check on Trip status, especially if guests are traveling from out of town for the tour. Please ensure the contact details you provide are correct so that we can contact you if the tour is canceled.
In the event of the tour being canceled due to weather/sea conditions, the guests will have the option to reschedule their boat tour to the next available date, cancel entirely or join the 2-hour land-based whale watching tour on the same day as the boat tour originally booked for.

Busy itinerary & no chance to reschedule when the trip is cancelled due to weather/sea conditions? We have a PLAN B for poor sea days! You can opt to join the 2-hour land-based whale watching tour on the same day as the boat tour originally booked for. The tour starts at the Welcome centre and is a comprehensive guided tour along the Hermanus cliffs visiting secret lookout points. Transport and refreshments included. No pre-booking required, only arranged at time of cancellation
