Take a guided Blyde Dam Boat Cruise near Swadini and Hoedspruit, and experience one of the most scenic ways to explore the famous Blyde River Canyon. Known as one of the largest canyons in the world and the only green canyon of its kind, this area is filled with dramatic cliffs, lush vegetation, fascinating rock formations, and incredible natural beauty.
This relaxed 1.5-hour boat trip takes you onto the Blyde Dam with commentary from your guide as you cruise below the towering canyon walls. Keep your eyes open for possible sightings of hippos, crocodiles, African Fish Eagles, and other birdlife while enjoying views of iconic landmarks such as the Three Rondavels and the rare Kadishi Tufa Waterfall.
Guests are welcome to bring snacks and soft drinks for the cruise. Please note that no alcohol is allowed on the boat.

- Arrival: Please arrive at least 40 minutes before your scheduled departure.
- Location: The boat departs from the Swadini / Blyde Dam area near Hoedspruit. Access is allowed for pre-booked guests only.
- Distance: Approximately 40km from Hoedspruit, 120km from Hazyview, and 140km from Graskop.
- Food & Drinks: Guests may bring snacks and soft drinks. Alcohol is not permitted.
- Wildlife: Sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife are possible but not guaranteed.
- Same-Day Changes: Same-day booking changes incur a R150 penalty fee, payable directly to the boat on arrival.
- Weather & Operations: Boat trips may be affected by weather, water levels, operational requirements, or safety conditions.
- Entry Fees: Swadini MPTA Conservation Fees are excluded and payable directly.

How long is the Blyde Dam Boat Cruise?
The cruise lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Guests should arrive at least 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
What will I see on the cruise?
You may see the Three Rondavels, Kadishi Tufa Waterfall, dramatic canyon cliffs, hippos, crocodiles, Fish Eagles, and other birdlife. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

The experience includes a guided boat cruise on the Blyde Dam with commentary about the canyon, geology, and wildlife.
Are entry fees included?
No. The Swadini MPTA Conservation Fee is excluded and payable directly on arrival.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera. You may bring snacks and soft drinks, but alcohol is not allowed.
Can children join the boat cruise?
Yes. This is a family-friendly activity suitable for all ages. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Is the boat cruise wheelchair accessible?
Access may be limited depending on boarding conditions. Please enquire before booking if wheelchair access is required.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Advance booking is strongly recommended as spaces are limited and the cruise may occasionally be affected by operational or filming closures.
