Take a guided boat cruise on the Blyde Dam, located near Swadini Forever Resort and Hoedspruit, and uncover the secrets of the world’s third-largest canyon – and the only green canyon in the world! This scenic trip offers an unforgettable way to explore the Blyde River Canyon’s towering cliffs, lush vegetation, and fascinating wildlife. Keep your eyes open for crocodiles basking on the banks, pods of hippos in the shallows, and majestic African Fish Eagles gliding overhead. Along the way, marvel at iconic landmarks such as the Three Rondavels and the rare Kadishi Tufa Waterfall, one of only a few living tufa falls in the world.

Guests are welcome to bring snacks and drinks for the trip (please note: no alcohol is allowed).

Please arrive at least 40 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.

How long is the boat trip, and what will I see?

The cruise lasts approximately 1.5 hours. You’ll see the iconic Three Rondavels, the Kadishi Tufa Waterfall, and possibly hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Blyde River Canyon.

What’s included in the cruise?

A fully guided boat trip on the Blyde Dam with commentary on the canyon’s history, geology, and wildlife.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes. If sitting at the front of the boat, be prepared for possible splashes. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection. You’re welcome to bring snacks and drinks (no alcohol).

Can children join the boat cruise?

Yes, this activity is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Is the cruise wheelchair accessible?

Access may be limited for wheelchairs due to boarding conditions. It’s recommended to enquire before booking.

Is this a good activity for photographers?

Yes – the views from the water offer unique angles of the canyon and wildlife, making it a favourite for photographers.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. The cruise is popular and also has occasional filming closures, so advance booking is strongly advised.
