Experience one of South Africa’s leading wildlife conservation facilities, the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC). Located in the Greater Kruger area, this award-winning centre is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, breeding, and conservation of some of Africa’s most vulnerable and endangered species.
The centre is home to a variety of animals, including cheetahs, rhinos, African wild dogs, vultures, caracals, servals, and more. Many have been orphaned, injured, or displaced and are given expert care in large, secure enclosures designed to replicate their natural habitat. Visitors enjoy a guided tour that blends education, conservation awareness, and incredible wildlife viewing opportunities.

What animals will we see at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre?
The centre is home to a variety of endangered and threatened species, including cheetahs, rhinos, African wild dogs, and more. Depending on the day, you may also see vultures, caracals, servals, and other fascinating wildlife.
Are the animals kept in cages or do they roam freely?
The animals are housed in large, secure enclosures designed to replicate their natural environment. These see-through barriers allow safe viewing while ensuring the animals have space, enrichment, and comfort.
