Chimp Eden is South Africa’s only dedicated chimpanzee sanctuary, providing semi-wild enclosures that encourage natural behaviors and social interaction. From secure viewpoints, watch the chimps forage, play, and communicate in their family groups. Feeding times are a highlight, offering an unforgettable insight into their personalities and intelligence.

Please note: There is no physical interaction with the chimpanzees. All tours are weather-dependent.

What can visitors expect during the guided tour?

Are there facilities on-site?
Yes – Chimp Eden has the Chimp Chow Café for snacks and light meals, plus a small gift shop where proceeds support chimp conservation.
Is interaction with the chimpanzees allowed?
No – for safety and animal welfare, there is no direct contact. Tours are observation only, from designated viewing areas.
Is Chimp Eden suitable for children?
Yes – children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. The sanctuary’s stories are engaging for all ages, but parental guidance is advised to help children understand conservation messages.
Do I need to book in advance?
Advance booking is recommended, especially during weekends and holidays, as tour numbers are limited.
