Tubing in Sabie, also known as Geckoing, is an active river adventure that puts you right at water level as you paddle and navigate the rapids of the Sabie River.
Each participant uses their own Gecko, a one-person inflatable raft with a solid floor and handles. Sit inside and use your hands to paddle through the calmer sections, then lie back and hold on securely as you move through the rapids.
A short 5-minute 4×4 transfer takes you to the Sabie River, where continuous rapids and beautiful natural scenery await. With very little time spent travelling, you can enjoy more time on the water.
This is a hands-on and physically active experience. All participants must be able to swim and follow the river guide’s safety instructions.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours.
Inclusions: Gecko tube and safety equipment, 4×4 transport to and from the river start point, and a professional guide.
Exclusions: Transport to Sabie unless arranged, meals, drinks, towels, change of clothes, personal items, and optional extras.

- Swimming Ability: You must be able to swim confidently to join this activity.
- Minimum Age: Minimum age is 12 years old.
- Minimum Group Size: Minimum 4 guests required. Smaller groups can ask to join an existing group.
- Group Special: Groups of 6 or more guests receive 10% off the normal rate, subject to availability and booking confirmation.
- What to Wear: Wear a swimsuit or quick-dry clothing with secure water shoes or sandals. Avoid flip-flops.
- What to Bring: Bring a towel, dry clothes, sunscreen, and a bag for wet clothing.
- Weather & River Conditions: Trips run in most weather, but heavy storms, unsafe river levels, or operational safety concerns may cause a postponement or cancellation.
- Safety: All guests must follow the guide’s instructions throughout the activity.

What is Geckoing?

Do I need experience?
No prior experience is required, but all participants must be able to swim and feel comfortable in moving water.
How safe is Geckoing?
Participants are provided with the required safety equipment, and the experience is led by experienced river guides who are familiar with the route and river conditions.
How long does the Geckoing and Tubing experience take?
The experience takes approximately 2 hours, including the short 4×4 transfer to and from the Sabie River.
What should I wear?
Wear swimwear or quick-drying clothing and secure water shoes or sandals. Avoid flip-flops. Bring a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards.
Is this activity weather dependent?
The activity operates in most weather conditions, but heavy storms, unsafe river conditions or other safety concerns may result in postponement or cancellation.
Is there a minimum group size?
Yes. A minimum of 4 guests is required. Smaller groups may ask to join an existing departure, subject to availability and booking confirmation.
