Hot air balloon flights operate at sunrise because balloons require stable, cool air for safe flying. Early morning offers the calmest conditions before the day heats up and thermal winds develop. An optional breakfast after the flight can be added at an additional charge.

Duration: Approximately 1-hour flight. Please allow around 3 to 4 hours for the full morning experience, including check-in, balloon preparation, flight, landing, return transfer to the launch site, and optional breakfast if booked.

Exclusions: Transport to the launch site unless arranged at an additional cost, optional breakfast, items of a personal nature, and any services not specified in your confirmed booking.
Important Information
- Weather Dependent: Hot air ballooning is 100% weather dependent and only operates in safe flying conditions.
- Sunrise Flights: Flights take place early in the morning at sunrise, when air conditions are most stable.
- Minimum Age & Height: Minimum age is 7 years old, and passengers must be at least 1.2 metres tall.
- Pregnancy: Pregnant passengers may not participate for safety reasons.
- Physical Requirements: Passengers must be able to climb in and out of a 1200mm high basket without assistance, jump unassisted from a height of 60cm, and stand for the full flight duration of approximately 1 hour.
- Transport: Guests must self-drive to the launch site. The address is provided after confirmation. Transfers may be arranged at an additional cost — please tell us where you are staying when enquiring.
- Seasonal Closure: Due to seasonal weather challenges, flights will not be conducted between 18 December and 2 January.
- Missed Flights: If you miss the flight, the ticket will be forfeited as per the operator’s terms and conditions.
- Best Booking Tip: Book your flight as early as possible during your stay to allow time for a backup day if weather affects the flight.
- Clothing: Comfortable layered clothing is recommended. Early mornings can be cool, but it warms up quickly.
- Shoes: Comfortable closed walking shoes are required.
- Winter Clothing: In winter months, especially May to August, beanies, scarves, gloves, and a warm jacket are strongly recommended.
- Bring: Camera, binoculars, sunscreen, and anything you may need for the early morning conditions.
Flights may be cancelled if wind, rain, poor visibility, or unsafe flying conditions are expected. We do our best to confirm or cancel the flight by 4:00 PM the day before. However, weather can change unexpectedly overnight. In these cases, we may need to contact your lodge or contact you directly early in the morning to prevent unnecessary travel to the launch site.
- If the flight is cancelled by the operator due to bad weather, one of the following terms may apply:
- You may reschedule to another day, subject to availability and pilot/operator approval.
- You may receive a voucher to the value paid, valid for 6 months, which can be used for a future balloon flight or any other Tours & Tickets SA activity.
- You may request a refund, processed less a 20% admin fee. Please allow up to 7 days for processing.
- If the flight is not cancelled by the operator but you choose to cancel, change your mind, or do not show up, a 100% cancellation fee applies.
- Tours & Tickets SA and the operator are not liable for accommodation reservations made in anticipation of the hot air balloon flight if weather prevents flying.
