This safari is perfect for guests already staying near Kruger’s southern gates (Phabeni, Malelane, Paul Kruger, or Crocodile Bridge). You’ll self-drive to the gate in time for a 05:00 departure (season dependent) and board a SANParks open safari vehicle for a 3 hour guided game drive. With the chance to spot the Big 5, as well as hyena, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, and more, every sunrise drive is a unique adventure guided by rangers who know the park inside out.

- Sunrise Safaris are subject to availability and require a minimum of 4 confirmed guests.
- Weather: Drives depart in most weather conditions. In rare cases of extreme weather, SANParks may delay or cancel for safety reasons.
- Children must be at least 6 years old and accompanied by two adults to qualify for kids’ rates.
- Entry Fees: Kruger Park conservation fees
- What to Bring: Comfortable layered clothing (it can get cool in early morning), closed shoes, camera, binoculars, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks
- Health & Safety: For your safety, remain seated during the drive, keep arms and legs inside the vehicle, and follow the ranger’s instructions at all times.
- Meals & Drinks: Not included. Guests may bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Cancellation Policy: This activity is run by SANParks. A 100% cancellation fee applies once your booking is confirmed, as per SANParks policy.
How long is the Sunrise Safari?
The game drive itself lasts about 3 hours. You’ll need to arrive at the gate around 05:00 depending on the season.
Which gate should I use?
You can book to depart from Phabeni, Malelane, Paul Kruger, or Crocodile Bridge gates. Choose the one closest to where you’re staying.
Are meals included?
No. Meals and drinks are not included, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.
What happens if it rains?
The safari will usually still go ahead. Only in extreme weather may SANParks delay or cancel for safety reasons.
