Located alongside the Elephant Sanctuary, this privately owned sanctuary spans approximately 7 hectares in the Magaliesberg mountain range, providing a haven for primates rescued from the pet trade. Witness squirrel-, spider-, and capuchin monkeys thrive in a wild setting, fostering awareness about the importance of natural habitats for these creatures. Through these tours, visitors contribute to the ongoing care and conservation efforts of these remarkable animals.

Duration: 1 hour

Explore the Monkey Sanctuary in Hartbeespoort on a guided tour as you stroll along elevated wooden walkways. The walk is leisurely over a 3km distance through natural indigenous forests, encountering a diverse array of exotic monkeys and primates within their stunning natural habitat. This experience offers a non-interactive, game-viewing opportunity to observe once-captive primates thriving in a wild environment.

Children of all ages are welcome (under adult supervision).

Duration: 1 hour

Experience everything in the Monkey Sanctuary tour above, plus, delight in the feeding of the primates included as part of the tour.

Children of all ages are welcome (under adult supervision).

Highlights include:

ELEPHANT INTERACTION & MONKEY SANCTUARY TOUR

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (Elephant Interaction) & 1 hour (Monkey Sanctuary)

Following the Elephant Interaction experience at Hartbeespoort, enjoy a guided tour of the Monkey Sanctuary. Monkey Sanctuary offers a new beginning for primates like squirrel, spider, and capuchin monkeys, once kept as pets or bred for trade. 

Monkey Sanctuary Tours run every hour on the hour from 09h00am – 16h00pm and can be done either before or after the Elephant Experience.

Children of all ages are welcome (under adult supervision).

Highlights include:

ELEPHANT, MONKEYS & MINI SAFARI

Times: 08h00, 10h00
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (Elephant Interaction) & 1 hour (Monkey Sanctuary) & 2 hours (Lion & Safari Park)

Following the Elephant Interaction experience at Hartbeespoort, enjoy a guided tour of the Monkey Sanctuary. Monkey Sanctuary offers a new beginning for primates like squirrel, spider, and capuchin monkeys, once kept as pets or bred for trade. After the two tours, self-drive to Lion & Safari Park for your mini safari. Enjoy a guided game drive through the Lion & Safari Park in one of their game drive trucks while the guides share interesting facts about the animals.

Monkey Sanctuary Tours run every hour on the hour from 09h00am – 16h00pm and can be done either before or after the Elephant Experience. Please note for the mini safari at Lion & Safari Park that you need to arrive 30-min prior.

Children from 4 years above are welcome (under adult supervision).
