Explore the captivating world of primates at Monkeyland in the Crags near Plettenberg Bay! Monkeyland is the world’s first free-roaming, multi-species Primate Sanctuary.

With over 550 apes, monkeys, and lemurs, Monkeyland provides a forever home to ex-captive primates from closed-down zoos, parks, or even former pets. Led by one of South Africa’s most experienced primate guides, embark on a 1-hour guided tour through the 12-hectare indigenous forest. Along the way, encounter a diverse array of primates living freely in their natural habitat. Learn about their behaviors, habitats, and conservation efforts while enjoying ample opportunities for photos and questions.

Visitors to Monkeyland , Plettenberg Bay, cannot walk in the forest on their own. One-hour guided walks are offered, led by a monkey safari guide, curator, or sanctuary manager. These guides track down the primates and provide information about them.

The entry ticket is a day ticket, allowing visitors to go on multiple tours on the same day. The walk through Monkeyland is approximately 1km, offering a stop-and-stroll experience through the forest.

Wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages and fitness levels (Wear flat shoes). Monkeyland offers an unforgettable experience rain or shine, and is an outdoor experience. 

No, touching and/or feeding of the animals is strictly prohibited.
