BIRDS OF EDEN – PLETTENBERG BAY

Discover Birds of Eden, the world’s largest free-flight aviary, located in the Crags near Plettenberg Bay. Spanning 2.3 hectares of partly forested land, with a 3.2-hectare mesh and a 1.2-kilometer walkway, this sanctuary is home to over 3500 birds from 220 different species and subspecies.

The aviary features a deep gorge with a waterfall and stands approximately 50 meters high, offering ample flying space for the birds. From the Knysna lourie to parrots, parakeets, waterfowl, flamingos, starlings, robins, and cranes, you’ll witness a variety of species in their natural habitat. As a sanctuary, Birds of Eden provides previously caged birds with the opportunity to spread their wings and experience natural avian behavior for the first time.

Birds of Eden has a 1.2 km wooden walkway, along which visitors can stroll at their own pace. If required, guides for Birds of Eden can be pre-booked. Guides should be booked 24 hours in advance.

Wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages and fitness levels (Wear flat shoes). Birds of Eden offers an unforgettable experience rain or shine, and is an outdoor experience.
