Nestled in the heart of Hazyview, Mpumalanga, Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park offers an educational journey into the captivating world of reptiles. From over 50 species of reptiles including awe-inspiring crocodiles to mesmerising snakes and more, this park is a treasure trove of knowledge and adventure for visitors of all ages.

A Learning Experience Like No Other
Our intern, Lovedonia, recently embarked on a visit to Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park. She shared, “I have learned a lot about the reptiles in this centre. Offering a variety of reptiles, including different kinds of snakes. One thing that I have learned is that snakes are different, and we have snakes that are non-venomous and venomous. It is very important for you to be able to differentiate them by their size and also the way they look. I have learned that snakes can be cloned to produce different colours.”
Snake Handling and Tortoises
Visitors have the unique opportunity to engage in holding a snake, an experience that demystifies these often misunderstood creatures. Lovedonia found it to be an educational and engaging experience, saying, “Snake handling was not that bad for me because it was not the first time I have done it. The reptile park is one of the parks that offer different kinds of tortoises. You will be told how to be able to identify whether the tortoise is female or male by looking at its size.”
Discovering Giant Crocs and Colourful Frogs
The reptile park also houses impressive crocodiles that leave a lasting impression. Lovedonia noted, “In my life, I have never seen big crocodiles like that; it was my first time.” Additionally, the park features a diverse collection of frogs, each with its own unique characteristics. Lovedonia emphasised, “They also offer different kinds of frogs, some with big sizes and different colours, and they feed on everything they are given.”
A Call to Explore and Learn
Perry’s Bridge Reptile Park is not only a place of discovery but also an essential resource for understanding and appreciating reptiles. Lovedonia encouraged others to visit, saying, “I advise you to go and learn more, just like me. So that you can also understand and learn more about reptiles, which will also help you to stop killing them just because you think they are harmful.”
